Description
A 2024 Hongqi H5 1.5T Zhilian Qiyun with 53,000 km, black over red leather, is available now from Nanning, Guangxi, shipping out of Guangzhou. It is the second-generation H5 executive sedan, not the 2025 H6 liftback, and it is offered for export with full documentation.
The H5 sits in the awkward, useful middle of the Hongqi range. It is long enough to read as an executive car, cheap enough to sell into fleets, and rare enough outside China that a buyer who wants something other than a Camry has almost nothing to compare it with. That cuts both ways, and we will be honest about it further down.
What exactly is this car?
A 2024 Hongqi H5, 1.5T, Zhilian Qiyun trim, automatic. First registered in 2024, 53,000 km on the clock, black paint, red leather interior. It is a front-engine, front-wheel-drive four-door sedan built by FAW under the Hongqi nameplate — the brand that has supplied Chinese state limousines since 1958, which is the reason a Hongqi grille means something in a way a Geely grille does not.
Zhilian Qiyun is a mid-to-upper trim rather than the entry car. In practice that means the leather, the larger centre screen and the driver-assistance package are fitted as standard rather than as options someone declined three years ago. Red leather on a black car is a deliberate, slightly loud combination — buyers either want it or they do not, and there is no point pretending otherwise.
How much does a used Hongqi H5 cost to export?
Ask us for a quote against the destination port — pricing moves with the exchange rate and with how many H5s are in the yard in a given month, and we would rather quote you than print a number that is stale next Tuesday. What we can say is that a 1.5T H5 with this mileage is the value end of the Hongqi sedan range. The bigger, more expensive cars are the H9 and the H6; the H5 is the one that lands in used-Camry and used-Passat money once freight is included.
What does the 1.5T engine mean in daily use?
The 1.5-litre turbo four is the economy choice in the H5 line. It is a smooth, quiet motor at cruising speed and it takes 92-octane fuel, which matters more than horsepower figures in most export markets. It is not a fast car. Loaded with four adults and luggage, you will notice the difference between this and the 2.0T, and if your buyers regularly drive mountain roads at altitude you should be steering them toward the 2.0T instead.
What the smaller engine does give you is simpler servicing. No high-pressure fuel pump to worry about, no complex variable valve hardware that needs a dealer laptop, and a torque-converter automatic rather than a dual-clutch. Any workshop that has seen a modern turbo petrol engine can work on it. That is the single most important sentence in this listing for a buyer in West Africa, the Middle East or Latin America.
Is Hongqi a safe brand to import?
Mostly yes, with one caveat you should think about before you commit. Hongqi is a serious manufacturer — FAW has built these cars in volume for decades, and the mechanicals under an H5 are conventional: turbo petrol, automatic gearbox, MacPherson struts at the front, multi-link at the rear. Nothing exotic, nothing that requires a specialist.
The caveat is parts. Hongqi’s export footprint is growing but it is not Toyota’s. Body panels, lights and interior trim for an H5 are not sitting on a shelf in Lagos or Dubai. If a buyer clips a front corner, the repair can take weeks while a grille and a headlight come from China. Mechanical consumables — filters, brake pads, belts — are far easier, and most of them cross-reference to FAW part numbers your existing suppliers can chase.
So: buy this if you are comfortable holding a small spares buffer, or if your market already has Hongqi cars in it. Do not buy it if you need a car that any corner garage can fix from local stock within a day.
What should you check before you pay?
Same discipline as any used car, with a few Hongqi-specific items on top:
- Service history against the odometer. 53,000 km in roughly two years of use is normal for a car that was driven, not parked. Match the stamps to the dates.
- The 1.5T’s turbo and cooling system. Ask for a photo of the coolant level cold and warm, and check for oil weep around the turbo feed line.
- Gearbox oil change record. Torque-converter automatics are tolerant, but 53,000 km is the point where an unrecorded change becomes a question you have to ask in writing.
- Red leather condition. Red hides show wear and dye transfer far more than black. Look at the driver’s bolsters and the door armrests specifically.
- Underbody and corners. Guangxi is humid. Photos of the sills, subframe and wheel arches should arrive before any deposit.
Where is the car, and how does it ship?
The car is in Nanning, Guangxi. Export is through Guangzhou, which is roughly 550 km away by road — a normal inland leg that we handle as part of the booking rather than as a surprise line on the invoice. Guangzhou’s Nansha terminal runs both RoRo and container loading, so the car can go either way depending on where it is headed and how many units are moving together.
Rough transit windows from Guangzhou: Southeast Asia 18–25 days, the Middle East 25–35 days, West Africa 30–40 days, Latin America 35–45 days. We supply the invoice, deregistration certificate, export licence and bill of lading as one document set so your clearing agent is not chasing paperwork while the vessel is already at sea.
